Ny informasjon om testen fra redlabs

Da jeg testet meg for XMRV-virus 4. august hadde ikke de nye testresultatene fra NIH/FDA om at det ikke bare er ett virus, men en hel "familie" med virus blitt publisert. Derfor ble jeg jeg bare sjekket for XMRV, ikke de andre MLV-virusene som nylig har blitt oppdaget.

Det har vært frem og tilbake om XMRV-prøvene som er sendt til redlabs i belgia skulle testes med serologitest eller ikke. Med en serologitest vil man få et mye sikrere resultat enn om man bare tester med culture og western Blot, de to andre testmetodene. En serologitest vil lete etter antistoffer mot virus i kroppen. Den er også mer følsom enn de andre testmetodene.

Det har vært mye forskjellig informasjon, og det har dukket opp en del spørsmål i hodet mitt. Vil blodprøven min bli testet med serologitest eller ikke? Ut i fra det jeg har forstått har ikke serologitesten vært tilgjengelig før nå nylig. Må vi ta en ny blodprøve for å teste med serologi, eller kan redlabs bruke blodet fra de forrige blodprøvene? Vil testen vise de andre LMV-virusene, eller bare XMRV? Har vi mulighet til å få testet oss for de andre virusene, hvor mye vil det isåfall koste? Skal jeg betale 340€ for en test som bare viser en av mange virus?

Dette er svar (25.08.10) fra RedLabs på Rutts spørsmål om XMRV-testing:

Q: Prof. De Meirleir said to the norwegian patients that had their blood drawn (august) for his treatment study that they would be tested with culture, serology and western blot. Does this mean that you will postpone the testing of us until the serology is ready? Or would you use the culture now and serology when it is available without any aditional cost for the patients?

A:The samples will be tested for Culture + Western (panel). The serology test is not yet available and will be invoiced later (I cannot provide you with the current price; not available).

Q: The published study from FDA/NIH yesterday, showed that they did not find XMRV but a variants of the retrovirus named MLV. Will the tests (culture and serology) be able to detect all the variants of the virus or ONLY the XMRV?

A: The serology test will be able to detect all variants of the virus. It is confirmed.

Q: Will the positive patients produce the same type of anti-bodys to all the variants of the retrovirus so that the serology test will detect all the variants?

A: Yes, the same AB and the serology test will be able to detect them.

Q: Could there be a posibility that you have another variant of the virus and test negative on the XMRV culture and serology test?

A: It is possible in fact for culture.

26.08 publiserte Rutt at Prof. De Meirleir hadde kommet med ny informasjon om XMRV-testingen:

"No it will be free for all those who already paid."

"Free testing for all those tested in the past who were negative which includes antibodies and RT PCR for MLV’s (XMRV is not the only gammaretrovirus)."

Dette vil si at vi som testet oss for XMRV må tilbake for å ta en ny test (serologitest og bli testet for de andre MLV-virusene), men vi skal ikke måtte betale for det.
